This vintage trimmer works back and forth. It has been a handy tool for making picture frame miter cuts. It works best if ends are rough-cut slightly oversize and then finish-trimmed on the Lion. It is capable of making many other types of trim cuts too.

"Pootatuck Corp. dates back to about 1925, and made the well-known Lion miter trimmer. Their machines were manufactured in Claremont, but the company's mailing address was Windsor. The company was later located in Lynn, Mass., and we have also seen machines and paperwork giving addresses in Reading, Mass., Shelton, CT., Bridgeport, CT., and Stratford, CT."
"Manufactured from cast iron this trimmer is designed for finish trimming of picture frames and mouldings. You simply rough cut the moulding to size and then using the substantial cast lever slice the moulding to the desired angle. It will leave a mirror/glass like finish for perfect mitre joints. Two fully adjustable fences allow for any angle of trimming and the fences have pre set positive locks at 45 and 90 degrees, a thumb screw locks all other angles. This professional trimmer will handle 150mm wide or 100mm tall mouldings."
