Hoffmann Dovetail Keys, size W-4, are the largest current size for special woodworking applications, including miter joints, butt joints, compound miter joints and end-to-end joints. The W-4 Dovetail Keys are much larger in both width and height compared to W-3 Dovetail Keys, and are capable of exerting significantly more clamping pressure and holding strength.

Typical uses include post and beam construction, curtain wall systems, sunrooms, patio covering structures, heavy timber joinery, sauna and steam-room assembly, outdoor furniture and park benches, commercial projects, large window and door systems, etc.

Solid wood W-4 Keys are available in cherry, mahogany, maple, oak, walnut, wenge - these wood keys are a great way to incorporate design accents into furniture joinery.
Hoffmann W-4 Dovetail Keys can be processed on most freestanding P-series machines and on professional bench-top models (M-series) with an upgraded router motor. A 1000 watt router motor with an 8mm collect is necessary to use W-4 router bits.
