The Kern FC50 FiberCell is a high-performance, compact sheet metal fabricating fiber laser cutting system made in the USA. Designed with a space-saving footprint, it allows workshops, industrial factories, and educational settings to cut and mark highly reflective metals efficiently without the maintenance footprint of traditional CO₂ lasers.
Specifications:
• Work Area: 52″ x 50″ (1320mm x 1270mm) processing bed.
• Laser Wattage: Available configuration strengths include 1kW, 2kW, or 3kW Ytterbium fiber lasers.
• Motion & Accuracy: Equipped with linear motors on the X-axis and Kern's HyperDual servo motion package on the Y-axis, achieving positioning accuracy of +/- 0.001″ and repeatability of +/- 0.0005″.
• Max Cutting Speed: Up to 20 inches per second (20"/sec).
• Safety Class: Completely enclosed Class 2 laser safety rating featuring interlocked access doors and filtered polycarbonate windows to prevent dangerous beam wavelengths from escaping.
Material & Thickness Capabilities
The fiber laser source delivers short wavelengths that offer highly efficient beam absorption into metals. Typical material thresholds (based on a 1kW setup) include:
• Common Metals: Stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and anodized aluminum.
• Production Cutting (1–3 mm / 18–11 ga): Fast, optimal, high-efficiency manufacturing speeds.
• Practical Upper Limit (4–6 mm / 5–1/4 in): Very reliable thickness performance under standard operation.
• Maximum Threshold (8–12 mm): Achievable at slow speeds, requiring specialized optics and clean assist gas adjustments.
